Modelling and Enforcement of Inter-Process Dependencies with Business Process Modelling Languages
نویسندگان
چکیده
Business process languages have been successfully applied in research and industry for the development of information systems. They are used for the analysis, design, construction, and verifi cation of software applications and fit well into the model-driven paradigm. Although many business process languages have emerged in the last couple of years, they are in general not used for supporting the integration of existing information systems. In many cases, they are applied for design ing an integrated system from scratch but less emphasis has been placed on integrating exist ing business process models which would be a natural consequence from a model-driven point of view. In this article we identify inter-process dependencies for the integration of existing business processes and investigate their support from a modelling perspective by currently available business process modelling languages and from an enforcement perspective by an event driven architecture.

Modelling Inter-Process Dependencies with High-Level Business Process Modelling Languages
The work presented in this paper targets the software integration on the level of business process models. The goal is to create the behavioural description of an integrated system that is consistent with the behavioural descriptions of the original local systems intended to be integrated. We build the behavioural description from existing models of the local systems by inserting dependencies b...
متن کاملCustomizing Internal Activity Behaviour for Flexible Process Enforcement
Workflow technology has met with success in a variety of industries, although several limitations have emerged. One such drawback is the inflexibility of specification languages, including a lack of support for inter-task dependencies. Expressiveness of the specification language is believed to be a determining factor of workflows applicability and its industrial value as solution for process s...
متن کاملMeta-Model based Extensions of the EPC for Inter- Organisational Process Modelling
In the subject of information systems modelling languages have proven to be an effective mean to design business processes of enterprises and their information systems as well. These modelling languages are specified by metamodels. The choice of elements that are specified by the meta-model, which hence are part of the modelling language, is driven by the modelling languages’ field of applicati...
متن کاملFormalizing Dependencies in Business Process Models Using Constraint Satisfaction
Compliance management tackles issues related to both modelling and enforcement of business constraints in enterprises. In the context of business process management [Sch00], we propose and describe the use of constraint satisfaction problems [Dec03] as a formal mean for representing these dependencies [Run09, REK09]. We describe different scenarios using constraint satisfaction for the modellin...
متن کاملA Multi-perspective Methodology for Modelling Inter-enterprise Business Processes
We propose an agent-oriented methodology for modelling business processes between enterprises that consists of the steps of analysis and design. The analysis starts by modelling intentional dependencies between the actors of the problem domain at hand, and continues by modelling intentional relationships that are internal to the actors, such as task decomposition links. In the design, intention...
